South Downs Food Festival
The South Downs Food Festival is a two-day outdoor food and drink event featuring live cookery demonstrations, vendor stalls and public performances. Tech My Event delivered the full power infrastructure for the festival in both 2024 and 2025, managing power supply across three demonstration tents - each with completely different technical requirements.
The Brief
Three demo tents. Two days. Three completely different power setups. The South Downs Food Festival presented a power management challenge that required not just planning and installation but genuine on-the-ground flexibility - the ability to adapt quickly when the reality of the event didn't match the plan on paper.
The Challenge
Each of the three demonstration tents had its own specific power requirements, demanding very different approaches from our team. Outdoor food festival power is never straightforward - cooking equipment draws significant load, layouts change at the last minute and vendor needs often evolve once they arrive on site.
In both 2024 and 2025 our team provided on-site solutions in real time, including:
Substituting power cables for higher capacity alternatives when vendor requirements exceeded the original specification
Relocating trailer-mounted equipment using our site vehicles when the site layout required adjustment
Redesigning power delivery on the fly when the planned layout didn't survive contact with the actual showground
